What is Rock

As we have now chosen to use a rock genred band to produce for our music products it is important to define the meaning and understanding of rock too create more of realistic and believable image of the genre overall:

Rock has established itself in both the United Kingdom and United States, in first came into use from 1950s America "Rock n Roll" and evolved into a range of different styles in the 1960s. It has signature of electric guitars, bass guitar and drums and can be considered to be one of the key elements in order to define it. The genre also has many versions which have turned into hybrids such as blues rock, folk rock, country rock and many more this also being some of the original origins of how the genre first came about. Rock has had some social impacts and concerns around the type of artists portray within the genre through the use of the rhythm of the music, lyrics and performance as being rebellious though drug taking and sex for example. Many sayings have spawned from this to suggest it including the "I don't care attitude" and "sticking it to the man" expressions both implying that rock is similar being and expressing themselves to their audience and again the rebellious side too.

As rock has evolved over time we will be looking into the type of genre rock is now in order to meet our audiences needs. We must also keep and refer to this concept in the future to keep to the image as well as helping us to make note of this to when we may need it.
